3rd Test England v Pakistan

Post by Lost in Transportation »

England currently 93-3 approaching lunch. Vince and Ballance at crease. Both need a score to establish themselves in this side.

Men out: Cook 45, Hales 17, Root 3.

Slightly iffy shot from Vince again. Not a wild drive outside off for a change, a defensive prod outside off.

And back on topic, Misbah bowled Anderson for 56, 358/6, lead currently 61.

Still a sticky situation though (cue another comedy clip.....)

374-8 now. Thing is can England bat with a bit more discipline when they go in again? Personally I think England are staring down the barrel here, its asking an awful lot to put a competitive score together when you are 100 odd behind. Pakistan currently lead by 80.

Got a bit dark and overcast here which is helping the bowling. Feels like it could rain in next hour or so.

Spot on gunner, stats are against any side conceding a 1st innings lead of 100+, so it will take one hell of a batting performance to turn this around.

And just to compound matters, Anderson has been taken out of the attack having received his 3rd warning for running on the pitch. Marginal, harsh, maybe, but perhaps if he hadn't got so uppity with the umpires yesterday, they might have been a bit more inclined to cut him some slack.

So, Pakistan finally all out for 400, a lead of 103. England are going to need an absolute of minimum of 350 to make a game of this I'd have thought. Won't be easy given the way they batted first time around.

Still, a couple of other crumbs of comfort - the Aussies are getting their ar$es handed to them by Sri Lanka and Hampshire are belatedly finding a bit of form in the County Championship, currently 520/5 against Lancashire.
