I've watched Pompey vs Bournmouth on saturday

Post by Macedonian_pompey »

For the first time this season, i've had an opportunity to watch Pompey. I think we did well for the most part of the game, but unfortunately we didn't left enough gas to finish the game on a high. That Roberts goal was joy to watch. 40+ complete passes before the goal. Incredible. I was left dissapointed yesterday, when we lost a two points thanks to their goalkeeper. I think we have great chances for promotion this year. We can still do i it that with direct promotion, but we need to win the game like this.

P.S. I was impressed from Close. The lad possesses a great passing ability.

The mood is sombre with some fans but I agree with you we can still do it.

And let's be honest, it's a whole lot better than the last few seasons.

Historically 80 points will get you in the automatic promotion places every time. We have 45 and there are 19 games to go so we need another 35 .

10 wins , 5 draws and 4 defeats should do it.

Sounds simple, when you put it like that - how can it possibly go wrong?

Well, we play a high energy, high compression game and over the period of a season that tends to drain a team really quickly. Heavy grounds, games coming thick and fast and inconsistency begins to appear. Admittedly, we now have the best keeper in the division, which may well be worth 10 goals - that's 10 goals we might have shipped, so that's a bonus! We certainly look a fairly decent side, but it's a big ask to expect that scenario to happen. I hope against hope that it will happen, but we must avoid the banana skins along the way (that means that we must be Fort Knox at the back, especially during time added on!) That doesn't mean 'parking the bus' but rather possession football in our opponents half - rather than dropping back in defence and inviting the sucker punch......which has hit us rather too often!
