Touch of the Rhett Butler’s for me: ‘Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.’
Offsetting the quality of opposition point, we have had awful luck with injuries to top players so (if it comes) promotion will be well earned.

Re: Top of the League.
It's hard to say we would have done better without the injuries as they have really stepped up when needed.
Perhaps a little more depth over Xmas and we don't have that sticky run and we are steaming towards 100 points. Perhaps not.
Whatever happens from here on its it's been one of the most enjoyable seasons for a very long time on and off the field the club is moving ahead in the right direction. #NoAmbiton.

“Just a Dream” Love it!
You can take a mush out of Pompey but you can’t stop him dreaming.

Re: Top of the League.
So, after another fantastic set of results, I think I am right in saying that...
if we get 7 points from our remaining 6 matches, neither Peterborough nor Barnsley can better our points total regardless of any other result combination.
if we beat Bolton, we would only need to get 2 points from our remaining 5 matches to guarantee we finish above them regardless of any other result combination.
If we beat Derby, we would only need 5 points from our remaining 5 games to guarantee we finish above them regardless of any other result combination.
I still cannot say it out loud but.... well, you know what... it may not be the worst season we have ever had. PUP

Re: Top of the League.
You're right in what you're saying. To put it more simply, we need 8 points from 6 games to be promoted and 11 points from 6 games to win the title.GreenBlue wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:34 pm So, after another fantastic set of results, I think I am right in saying that...

Re: Top of the League.
Just reflecting on yesterday`s performance. We had 16 shots with 11 on target. I watched the match on IFollow (wish I could have been there at Wycombe) and I had Skysports on monitoring the other matches. In addition they were able to show the goals just after they went in. The Guy they had reporting on Pompey`s match was obviously watching a different one to me. We had 62% possession and although they looked dangerous at times our defence showed why they are the meanest in this League. So what does that mean? With six matches to go we are 5 points better than Derby with a game in hand. Eleven points better than Bolton and we are.................................................Top of The League!

Re: Top of the League.
We have not been beaten by any of the top eight Teams. Only lost four matches, best away record, second best home record, I could go on but lets leave the rhetoric and just say.....................................WE ARE TOP OF the LEAGUE

Re: Top of the League.
I don`t know if anyone has noticed:
Another three points 9 points clear of Bolton 8 clear from Derby. Best Home record, Best Away record, joint best goal difference. Only Lincoln have conceded less goals than Pompey. 13 games undefeated............................................and..........................TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Re: Top of the League.
2 points nearer the title without even kicking a ball. So, close to the promotion we all so desperately want but, a win at Bolton would also mean we couldn't be headed so would finish Top of the League. PUP
