League One; with added Crewe

Bit of a let down with Crewe winning the play-offs instead of Cheltenham, but League One still looking like a big improvement on the Championship for ground ticking purposes. New grounds for me will be AFC Bournemouth, Bury, Colchester United, Crawley Town, Hartlepool United, MK Dons and Yeovil Town...

Re: Football League Statement

It's certainly NOT " regrettable that HMRC sought to test this matter before the Courts". Whatever the outcome, it needed to be legally tested so that everyone knows where they stand. I suspect (pending appeal) that HMRC will now take a much more aggressive stance and not allow clubs to bu...

Re: A cricketing summer

Ah yes, the sound that signifies the start of local cricket.

The vexed scorer repeatedly shouting "BOWLER'S NAME PLEASE!" at all and sundry.

Re: Rare congrats to the officials...

I also thought he made appropriate allowances for players getting tired near the end. Too many referees wave cards around in the last 15 mins (let alone extra time) for fouls that are just the result of fatigue.

Re: Wales, Scotland and RoIreland

Genius. It could also be joint hosted with the Faroe Islands, Isle of Man, Rockall, Guernsey, Jersey, Sark, etc., etc. Soon get up to 16 "host nations" and no-one else would be allowed.

Scotland might even make it out of the group stage.

Re: Wales, Scotland and RoIreland

RoI also have Croke Park; Scotland have Murrayfield. Both could be used with a bit of negotiation, and are high quality stadiums. The new Cardiff stadium is tidy and could be used for the less attractive games. I think it would work well if everybody was on board to make it a success, but equally co...

Re: Pompey's League One Mission - Taken from the OS......

Been there; done that! Portsmouth won the League Championship in 1948-49-50, were then relegated to the fourth division and then returned all the way to division one in 1987. They were the first team to achieve this, but Wolves and Burnley have now also done so. Stop thinking of the PL as a new comp...

Re: Players supporting Trust Community Buyout bid

Come on, this is your club! I am not prepared to watch PFC disappear, and then afterwards think that I did not do everything I could to prevent it happening. There are always weak excuses for people not to contribute money to any cause. Here the worst that can happen is that you lose £100 (which is ...

Re: Banner for the final

What happened to the large banner that used to be passed back and forth across the Fratton End before matches a couple of years ago? (OK, maybe quite a few years, the brain isn't what it was). Is it stashed in a cupboard, or did Milan take it to the crispies and change the wording?
